FRED.........and Freddi With An I
NIZHONI'S FREDDI WITH AN I (instead of a Y)
My husband of 34 years, was diagnosed with a rare terminal cancer in June of '97. With children raised, grandchildren around, Min Pins filling our days....well, obviously we were enjoying life. He was a robust & healthy 66 year old man. Much too young to leave us. Cancer, sadly, has no sense of time and certainly no conscience. He was not,thank God, in alot pain, but as you can see, the cancer over the course of 1 year, took away the "robust", month by month. Fred loved dogs as much as I did. Together we have raised Dobes, Rotts and a couple of other breeds. In earlier years he professionally trained dogs in obedience, search and rescue and guard dog training. We enjoyed them together. He bought me my first Min Pin for Valentine's Day. (Thank you, dear!)

Melody had a litter born on Fred's birthday, February 9,1998 about 8 mos after his diagnosis. It was a sign. There was no question that one of these 5 babies had to stay for him and ultimately me. We named her Freddi, with an i. Nizhoni's Freddi with an I....he held her alot. She brought quiet and solace to him on a daily basis. When she figured out how, by 5 wks, to scale the couch....she would climb up to be with him. She didn't do the silly, biting puppy thing with him. She seemed to sense that he was ill and just wanted to cuddle with him. When he was asleep she would curl up around his neck. It warmed my heart to watch them.
My dearest passed away 5 mos to the day of Freddi's birth. I just know this little girl helped his passing more peaceful. He took her unconditional love with him.

Thank you God, for sending her to help comfort him in his last days......

NIZHONI'S FREDDI WITH AN I
Freddi was born to be a "therapy" dog. Although never certified as such she is a natural. A year after Fred's passing I became a Certified CareGiver & went to work at a lovely assisted living facility. At least once a month they had a dog visit hour. Freddi was a regular. Residents would sit in a close circle and dogs and puppies were brought in for the residents to pet, watch and play. Freddi, no longer a puppy knew what they needed. She would jump up on a lap, sit long enough to give kisses and pets, then jump to the next chair and continue on til the circle was completed. Although an equal opportunity girl, she would be driven to spend the most time with any men that were in the circle. It was uncanny to watch her.She's like that at home too. If a couple come to visit and she has a choice of laps.....it's the man she will go to. Obviously, dogs are conditioned very early in life.

Prancer is one of the new kids. I welcome Prancer & the others into our home. They have all settled in and now are part of my Min Pin "pack". Isn't she beautiful?

JOSIE
Josie was born Dec,2000 out of Murphy.She is barely 10 1/2", very petite and feminine in nature....well part of her nature...the other part likes to tear up anything she can get her teeth into! They can be real trying somedays! Have to keep the chairs in or she's on the table in a heartbeat! Her, Rudy and Radar are all partners in crime around here. Josie's just the best Mom.She has always maintained that playful puppy attitude, especially when she's raising her young. Her daughter is Annie, who you met earlier. All the dogs can be playing together in the yard and Josie will always single out Annie and roughhouse with her. Interaction of dogs is so fascinating!
