WS_FTP Instructions

The following are step by step instructions written for MS Windows users. These instructions will guide you through the basic installation & setup procedures for WS_FTP. You will utilize "WS_FTP " for uploading your webpages and images located on your local computer system to your website located on our remote server. We recommend you print a copy of these instructions out on your local printer and then following them step by step.

1) Your first step is to download the WS_FTP software.
a) Go to the website located at: http://www.ftpplanet.com/download.htm
b) Fill out the appropriate information & Download either the WS_FTP LE (free limited edition) or WS_FTP Pro (paid professional edition).
c) Follow the instructions for installing WS_FTP.

2) Your next step is to setup WS_FTP so you can upload files to your website.
a) Logon to the net as you normally do.
b) Run the WS_FTP program by double clicking on the WS_FTP icon.
c) Click on the "New" button".
d) enter the following info into the appropriate boxes on the screen: 


        Profile Name: YourUsername
   Host Name/Address: pageweb.com
           Host Type: UNIX(standard)
             User ID: YourUsername
            Password: YourPassword
             Account: (leave this blank)
             Comment: (leave this blank)

Make sure the "Save Pwd" box is check!


e) Now click on the "Ok" button".
WS_FTP will now log you on to your website.

Note: The files & directories residing on your computer (local system) will appear on the Left of your screen. The files located on your website (our remote server) will appear on the Right side of your screen.

Uploading Files To Your Website:
a) Using your mouse, select the desired file you wish to upload from the list on the Left.
b) Now click on the "arrow" button that points to the Right.
The file you selected will now be upload to your website.

Downloading Files From Your website To Your Local Computer:
a) Using your mouse, select the desired file you wish to upload from the list on the Right.
b) Now click on the "arrow" button that points to the Left.
The file you selected will now be downloaded to your local system.
The file you selected will now be upload to your website.

Tips: HTML & Text file must be uploaded & download as "ASCII" text files. Make sure the ASCII Radio Button is checked when transferring these types of files.

Photo (.jpg) files & Graphic (.gif) files must be uploaded & download as "Binary" files. Make sure the Binary Radio Button is checked when transferring these types of files.
