I have been breeding Great Danes for about 18 years. I feel I am successfully attaining the goals that I started out to fulfill in my life. My main goal was to breed sound, trustworthy companions and to give people a true friend that they could have a lifetime of memories with.
It all started years ago when I went to look at some Arabian horses that were for sale. I spent hours there and I was totally enveloped by their wonderful Great Danes. I never did end up with a horse that day, but in the backseat of my car sat two adult Great Danes. They sat on the seat like any two-legged creatures would. I turned around and looked at them and giggled all the way home. My children went bonkers when we got home! We ended up with every child in the neighborhood in our backyard with their arms wrapped around these wonderful animals. I was raising Dobies and mini-Dachshunds at the time. I found loving homes for my Dobies and I still have my Dane and Dachshund household--oh, by the way, there's a Bassett Hound in our menagerie as well!
We live in a peaceful setting on 15 acres in the little town of Richmond, Massachusetts. I was taking care of children so I could stay home and raise my own three sons. I got all the day care children involved with the animals as well as my own.
They loved feeding and caring for the puppies. The most wonderful time for everyone was watching the new babies come into the world. The little children couldn't get over the fascination of whelping a litter.
As the years went on we kept perfecting our bloodlines. I've concentrated on the blacks and blues because I feel their temperament and quality is excellent. Today I just pour all my time into my animals. I'm on a strict schedule as all my animals are on a daily routine. They get plenty of exercise and individual training. My sons are still helping me raise and care for them at this present time. Three of my dogs are being shown around the continental United States and one in Europe.
Being a single Mom at this time gives me hours of joy doing what I love most in the world.......taking care of this wonderful, noble breed, THE GENTLE GIANTS
