As previously discussed, External Links are hyperlinks to websites other than your own. They are often used for Link exchanging or as a means for you to send visitors to some of your favorite websites.

The External Links area of the Online Form is where you provide the URL/Web Address and the Name of the website you wish to link to. External Links will appear just below your External Links Title on your webpage. AutoPage-Plus provides you with the ability to utilize two types of external links (Graphic Links & Text Links). The only difference between the two is that the Graphic Link will display a graphic image for the link on your webpage whereas the text link will display only text.

At the top of the External Links area of the Online Form there are two Form Selection Lists (Font & Size) for you to designate the font format to use on your webpage. Font Color is determined Link Color & Vlink Color selections that you will be making latter on.

Below the Font & Size Selection Lists is the area where you enter the actual Link Information. There are three Form Boxes (URL, Website Name & Graphic Filename) for you to supply your external link info.

URL is the web address of the external website. (http://www.TheWebsiteAddress/)
Website Name is the name or some text pertaining to the external website.
Graphic Filename is where you supply the filename of the image you wish to appear on your webpage for the external link. The actual graphic file is supplied by you. You will be asked to upload the file(s) to your website latter on.

By default AutoPage-Plus allows you to enter up to five external links per webpage. Of course you may not wish to have external links on all of your webpages. You may wish to create a single webpage devoted to nothing but external links and five links may not be enough. That is why at the bottom of the External Links area of the Online Form there is a Selection List Box (Number of Links to Display) for you to indicate just how Link Info Boxes in the Online Form you need. You may select up to a maximum of 250 external links.

Online Form

• To designate the Font Face, Font Size for your External Links, simply click your mouse within the desired list & highlight your selection.
• To enter the URL for your External Link, simply click your mouse within the "URL" Form Box and begin typing.
• To enter the Website Name of your External Link, simply click your mouse within the "Website Name" Form Box and begin typing.
• To designate the Graphic Image Filename you wish to use, simply click your mouse within the "Graphic Filename" Form Box and begin typing. Now on a piece of paper, write down the filename exactly as you typed it in. You will need this filename latter when it comes time to upload this file to your website.
• To designate the Number of External Links you wish to appear, simply click your mouse within the "Number of Links to Display" list & highlight your selection.

  Note: The Number of Links to Display only affect the particular Online Form for the webpage you are working on. Changes will take effect the next time you Log-On to the system. If you need more links Now then you must make your selection and then scroll down to the bottom of the Online Form & click the [ Make Webpage ] button. Then re-Log-On to the same webpage's Online Form. The higher the "Number of Links to Display" you select, the longer it will take for the Online Form to load. We recommend that you select only the number closest to the actually number need.

  Note: All External links must be entered in consecutively. If you leave a link's URL or Website Name Form Box blank all links below the blank will not be displayed.

Webpage Appearance

Beginners need not worry about selecting Font Face, Font Size, Graphic Links & Number of Links to Display at this time. Simply stick with the defaults automatically provided by AutoPage-Plus.

Advanced users may select the Font Face, Font Size, Graphic Links & Number of Links to Display through the Form Boxes & Selection Lists provided.

WebRings & Link Exchanges
Some link exchanges & webrings systems require you to place their special coding on your webpage in order for you to participate in their program. Here is how you do it...

• create a link (as described above). However, instead of entering the URL to an external link, simply enter the name of a links page that you will create in a moment. ie; mylinks.html
• click the [ Make Webpage ] button located at the bottom of your AutoPage screen. This saves your current entries.
• click on the [ Exit to AutoPage-Plus Menu ] button.
• from the menu screen choose |-- Easy-Admin --| and Log-On to the Easy Admin system.
• once you have Logged-On, enter mylinks.html in the file name box, then click the [ Make New Text File ] button.
• into this text file, simply paste the special html coding that you received from the hostmaster of your weblink or webring system.
• click the [ Save Document ] button.

  That's it! You have created a separate mylinks.html page for pasting special coding for as many weblinks / webring systems you desire.
